Cultivating Creativity

I agree that this was a good chapter to read at the start of a semester. It made me consider how a lot of "creativity" is based on practice, process, and balance.
The two sub-headings "Start Early" and "When in Doubt, Crank it Out" (in the second edition) reminded me of a family rule of thumb: the 20-minute rule. If you have some daunting task ahead of you, take 20 minutes and do something toward it. At the end of 20 minutes, you often have enough momentum to keep going. If you don't, then you can stop, knowing that at least a little bit of the task is completed.
