Desire
I agree that our desires actually cause our downfall. Unlike animals natural desires, our desires seem to fuel greed and corruption. Some of these "tropisms" are money, power, and material goods that ubiquitous advertisements tell us we need. Even food, a basic human need, seems to be out of hand as we tend to pay large sums of money to eat hormone induced food at fine restaurants. In my interior design classes we learn that people have a natural incline towards nature, however unnecessarily massive homes with large footprints and artificial landscapes elimnates the natural environment we crave. So are our desires really tropisms? I feel that desires and tropisms are two completely different things.
