Desire: An Ecocentric Interpretation

I completely agree with the reading. Humans have inherent tropisms and desires which all come with counteracting aversions. My sense of desire deals with being wanted with a focus on sexual desire. I find sexual desire (the libido) quite intriguing as many in culture do as well. Our society today is extremely infatuated with sex, how it sells, and the intricate workings of it on humans. The libido, developed under Freudian terms, can be affected in many ways and has many attachments to it. It can be affected by malnourishment, obesity, medications, and some have said that men's libido can be correlated to their partners' menstrual cycle. Suppression of the libido can be caused by extreme psychological factors such as depression and sexual abuse. I feel that people go to great lengths to fulfill their sexual desires: they essentially just want to feel wanted by some one. Everyone wants to be loved. Aversions of the libido that can be considered is alcoholism, addiction to shopping and material things, and even depression.
