Desire
This was probably one of my favorite reading assignments thus far. I absolutely agree with what the article said and in all honesty it even made me feel just the slightest bit guilty considering my major. As a graphic designer I will more than likely have to advertise and be familiar with various methods of coercing my audience and truthfully speaking, some of these instances will likely require and/or be easier to accomplish by capitalizing 'on the frustrations that often accompany such quests for satisfaction'. Unfortunately, that will be rather difficult obstacle to avoid. My future career, after all, will most likely depend on the effectiveness of my ability to convince those within my commerce driven society to do what they do best... Aside from that, I was also glad to see the name of the ever popular Reverend Billy Talen. His message definitely comes across in a more calm manner when on paper, rather than in his energetic, live vocalization of it. And, after reading the article, I am considerably more understanding and honestly in favor of his cause for instilling a negative tropism for less excessive purchasing.
