nature...

My image is focused on presenting a portrait style inspection of a particularly small and common part of nature. The use of black and white carries along with it this feeling of a portrait and, as the image developed, also works well with the rigid specifications for nature. Although as a class we grew to understand that there is in fact a great gray area when it comes to distinguishing nature from things that are unnatural, as the text at the left side of my image says, we as people have also developed very complex ways of distinguishing certain parts of nature from others. Because of this, i feel that it is appropriate that the 'nature' in my picture does in fact include a lot of gray, yet the information and human added elements (aka the lines and things) are black and white and structured.
